PRIVACY AND CHILD DATA

What we keep, and what we do not.

Study Desk is used by children. This page says plainly what is stored about your child, where it sits, how long it stays, and how to have it removed. No legal language, because a page you cannot read is not consent.

Last updated 2 October 2026.

What is stored

WhatWhy it existsHow long
Your child’s first name So the desk can greet them and so you can tell accounts apart. Until the account is closed.
A username and password To sign in. The password is stored as a one-way hash, so nobody — including us — can read it back. Until the account is closed.
Your own name, email and phone So we can reach a parent, not a child, about the account. Until the account is closed.
Photographs of homework To read the question and prepare the lesson. 60 days, then deleted automatically.
The words read off those photographs So a lesson can be reopened without rebuilding it. Until the account is closed, or sooner if you ask.
Answers your child types in So a half-finished answer is still there tomorrow, and so marking can explain itself. Until the account is closed, or sooner if you ask.
Which lessons were opened, and when For the weekly report you receive. 12 months.

What is never stored

Where it sits

On a single hosted server in the United Kingdom, behind a password, reached only over an encrypted connection. Homework photographs are kept outside the public web folder, so no address typed into a browser can reach them. Each family sees only their own children.

The AI part, stated honestly

When Miss Iram writes a new explanation, the question — and the words read off the homework photograph — are sent to an AI service to be answered. The photograph itself is not sent. Your child’s name is not sent.

Read this one before you sign up

Study Desk runs on the free tier of its AI provider, which is how the price stays where it is. Free tiers are generally permitted to use what is submitted to them to improve their own systems. That means a sentence of homework text could be seen by people at that company as part of that process.

There is no child’s name, school or contact detail in what is sent — only the question. If that is still not something you want for your child, say so when you sign up and we will keep Miss Iram switched off for that account. Everything else — the written lessons, the chapter lists, the practice, the weekly report — works without her and sends nothing anywhere.

What Miss Iram will not do

Your child’s part in it

Children do not sign up for Study Desk. A parent creates the account, and only a parent can change it, add a subject or close it. Your child signs in to study and cannot see anyone else’s work, cannot change their own access, and is never asked to recruit anyone.

Asking for it to be deleted

Email us and say what you want removed. You can ask for any of these:

You can also ask for a copy of everything held about your child, in a plain file, at no cost. We will not ask why.

If something goes wrong

If data is ever exposed, affected families are told directly — by email and phone — within 72 hours of us knowing, with what happened and what to do. Not a notice posted quietly on a page.

If this page ever changes in a way that affects what is stored or who it is shared with, families are emailed before the change takes effect — not afterwards.
